Small?s is relatively new to the Hamtramck scene, and attracts a young, eclectic crowd. With the streetlights streaming through the cracks of the Venetian blinds, Small?s has a dark, seductive feel. The brick building is circa 1920, and the bar has a vintage noir feel with inexpensive drink prices. It was opened in September of 1999 by Dan Sordyl (a former owner of Hamtramck club Motor) and Jeff King (from the band Speedball). The name was ?borrowed? from a now defunct Los Angeles watering hole. The dress code is pretty casual, but you can see a mixed crowd depending on what?s going on. With an outstanding sound system and ample performance space, Small?s brings in a solid lineup of musicians with both local and touring acts. Nice, intimate performance space, making it one of Detroit's best venues to showcase an up & coming band.
